Hawaii Luxury | Review of the Spa at the Disney Aulani Hotel
As I’ve written before in a Staycation blog post, one of the many perks of living on Oahu, one of the most prolific tourist destinations in the world, is the abundance of great luxury spas (and hotels) in Honolulu and beyond. And the really nice thing is that many of these luxury resorts offer special Kama’aina rates that make it a bit more affordable for Hawaii residents to stay there or at least visit, on a special occasion.
I was blessed, this year, with a Christmas gift of a spa day at the Disney Aulani Hotel, in Leeward Oahu. In true Disney fashion, the spa at the Aulani reflects not only comfort and elegance, and many special treatments, including services for the entire family, but exceptional customer service.
Like the rest of the Disney Aulani Hotel, the spa facilities are gorgeous. The spa features a unique, very zen, pod-like floorplan which was easy to get lost in. When you first enter the spa, from the reception area, the attendant has you select a stone imprinted with a symbolic word. I received “Strength”. After walking down a long hall toward a fountain, the stone was tossed in the wishing fountain. They really don’t miss a detail.
I was led to a fairly typical locker room area, where I was given a robe and slippers to wear. Then, I had an hour to enjoy the co-ed indoor and outdoor relaxation areas of the spa, prior to my treatment. There is a lovely outdoor area with lounge chairs, warm jacuzzis, an icy cold dipping pool, and other baths and pools.
There is also a shower area with varying types of warm spray that will massage your shoulders and tickle your head. And there is a reflexology path for your feet.
The lovely, friendly attendants allow you to choose a special complementary, scented salt scrub in one of many tropical scents, to take home. I selected the Plumeria. They also provide a sample of bath salts matching the stone you picked at the entrance.
My treatment was an amazing 80 minute massage. This seriously was one of the best massages I’ve ever had. And the facial I had next was also very nice. Before and after, in the spa areas, the spa attendants were quick to bring hot tea and ice water, along with delicious mini carrot-spice cupcakes, upon request, while I continued to relax.
This is a full-service spa and a full range of treatments were available, including manicure/pedicure. There is even a special “Painted Sky” spa for teens.
Thank you Disney Aulani Spa. You were everything I thought you would be, and more! I left completely relaxed and rejuvenated, and would recommend you to anyone looking for serenity and great service!!
