NEW: Honolulu Luxury Real Estate in Portlock, Hawaii Kai

I saw a beautiful new Portlock Hawaii Kai Listing for Sale at broker’s open today: 444 Portlock Road in Hawaii Kai.

This Portlock luxury home is a modern craftsman-style, wood home with 6 bedrooms and 5 baths. It has a potential to be split into a main home and 2 rental units, the way it is configured.  It has a great indoor outdoor kitchen area and a huge living area for entertaining.  The kitchen appliances are stainless and high-end, even with a built-in espresso maker and wine storage room.  This modern craftsman-style home is an unusual design, as it has a loft area above the living space. The Hawaii Kai luxury home home is owned by an expert carpenter and his fine work shows in the home. This Portlock home is actually a lot more beautiful in person than it is in the photos.

Kaiser Estate is on Portlock road in Hawaii Kai and some of the most expensive homes in Honolulu are on this street.   Some of the homes and waterfront or beachfront and many are on very large lots with goregous views of Maunalua Bay and Waikiki from across the bay.

Koa Wood Bowls - A Gift of Hawaii's Treasure

Looking for a perfectly beautiful Valentine’s gift or other gift for someone who has everything? Try the Hawaiian gift of a Koa Umeke (Koa Wood Bowl) or Koa calabash. These gorgeous pieces are often displayed in luxury Hawaii homes.

The Hawaiian culture places great significance in bowl making.  Technique and craftsmanship for making bowls was kept secret and passed down quietly and mysteriously.  The functionality of the bowl is important, along with the care in in the craftsmanship. The shape and design must be perfect.  The attention to the umeke shape reflects the Hawaiian culture of sharing and attention to hospitality.
